Arriving in New Orleans on Christmas Day? Afraid everything will be quiet and closed? Guess again. We checked into our hotel late, expecting to survive on room service, but decided to venture out. Our hotel on St. Charles Avenue is on the edge of the French Quarter and the Central Business District. We wandered around, surprised to find so many others out and about. In fact, the streets were filled with tourists and the restaurants were fully booked. We managed to find a 24-hour IHOP on Canal Street and indulged in some red velvet pancakes. More adventures tomorrow, after we sleep in.
